1. I’ve climbed Utah’s highest peak, Kings Peak.

2. I have lived in unique places, such as Paradise, WA on Mt. Rainier; The Wild Salmon Fish Processing Boat (Alaska’s Inside Passage); Hobart Bay, AK, a logging camp that no longer exists as such; and Kake, AK (have to take a boat or float plane to get there!).

3. My favorite food: mom's recipe for "ultimate vegan chocolate chip cookies"

4. I love dogs. Growing up, we always had a dog. As a kid, I liked to learn about different breeds, I once brought home a stray puppy, and I even had a subscription to Dog Fancy magazine.

5. I have over 50 George Strait songs on my iTunes

Elsa, you're it!

  1. This is cool Kari. :) I didn't know you loved dogs so much! What's your favorite breed?

I actually didn't know any of these. And I thought I knew you pretty well. Some of them are not especially surprising though knowing you, except . . . 50 songs?? I don't think I have 50 songs from anyone on my itunes. . . well, maybe James Taylor I guess. I'm going to have to look into George a little more.

And can I have that recipe??

  3. Well, George Strait has a CD out called 50 Number Ones, so that explains that. I actually listen to it all the time. I also have over 50 Alison Krauss songs that I listen to just as much. After watching the live DVD with you, we decided to buy one for our home collection. So good!

I don’t have a favorite breed right now. I was really into terriers like westies and schnauzers for a while. I wanted a schnauzer so I could name him "sir (insert a very official sounding name)".I had heard about someone naming a schnauzer sir and thought it was so cool. I would not want a terrier now–-they are too energetic and smart. Then, I was into big working dogs like the Great Pyrenees or Swiss Mountain Dog. Beautiful breeds. Anyway, I would love to get a dog (a yellow short hair lab mix) when the kids are older and we have a lot of property.
Would you like to have a pet dog for the family?

  4. Yes and no. I really love dogs, and we had the most awesome english springer spaniel when I was growing up named Bobby Sue. But as a mother, I don't know that I would want to clean up after it. Joanna's little Jacob is awfully allergic to dogs too, so it would be banning them from our house or yard to get one. If I ever did though, I would want two so they could play, and I would need to have a lot of property so they wouldn't feel trapped. It would be so fun, but I'm not sure if it would ever happen.

I didn't know you hiked King's Peak - wow. How long did it take? Did you go up from the N, S or East?

  5. Hey Christine, don't forget that I'm allergic to dogs too... Say goodbye to those late night mousetrap sessions if you get a pooch.

Have you ever hiked Kings Peak? I don't remember which side we started from. I may make a post of it--just found some photos from the hike. I'll also make a post with the recipe, so watch for that soon.

  8. This ones for mom--
Mom mentioned that I should add info about Kake, AK. She reminded me that Kake is actually a small Indian Village where my parents lived for 2 years. My dad worked for the Puget Sound Log Scaling Bureau. It was a challenging (because of it's remoteness) but beautiful place to live.
