Bringing Home our Baby

Adam's mom and dad were so sweet and helpful to us when it was time to bring Emily home. They did a few loads of laundry for us, they bought a glider chair to rock and nurse baby Emily in, David washed the dirty dishes by hand, and I am sure they prepared some meals for us as well. After being in the hospital, it was nice to finally be in our home again where we could relax and settle into our new roles as parents.

Expecting our first!

Adam and I found out in December of 2003 that we are expecting our first child. We are thrilled! After telling both our parents, my dad bought a pack of baby wash cloths. As a fun way to tell Grandma Jeanne, we wrapped the wash cloths in a package (it was right around Christmas time) and gave it to her as a present. She opened the package, put her hand to her mouth, leaned back and exclaimed, "Oh, Adam and Kari, congratulations!"

Adam and I are still studying at BYU, glad to be over the morning sickness, and getting ready for me to finish up my internship and graduate at the end of the summer. Our baby girl is due mid-August so I will have enough time to finish my internship. It was hard deciding whether or not to do the internship (I just wanted to be done and move on to being a mother) but I think I knew deep down inside that I would be happier finishing than not. I've worked so hard to get here anyway.  Here we are with Adam's parents and family at the Zoo in SLC. Two babies (Jonathan and Danielle) and two on the way (Christine is also expecting).
