Fall Evening

at the Pumpkin Patch

Before finding our pumpkins, we visited the farm animals, some of whom were snacking on raw pumpkin.

We took multiple trips through a hay bale maze. I could see the tops of the bales, but I still unknowingly followed the kids into a dead end or two.

By the end of our evening, I put the kids in the cart with our pumpkins just so to keep them from running every which way. There is so much to explore out on a farm and it was such a beautiful evening, we hated to leave. It took all my remaining energy to pack up the kids before dusk settled in, and rush home for a late dinner.

  1. This is one of the best & most anticipated time of the year. Pumpkin patches, mazes, wagon rides...and a treat for the camera. Love these photo's Kari. I'm going to put ours on the blog today. Thanks for your inspiration.

  2. So was this with your parents or back with Adam?

I love fall. It's magnificent. And Jonathan comes running in all excited at least once a day, to show me some glorious thing that's happening in the backyard. With our massive tree losing leaves like crazy, our backyard is a veritable wonderland.

  3. This is back in Springfield.

That's awesome that Jonathan has a wonderland in his backyard to explore. Do you make leaf piles to jump into? Your backyard would be perfect for leaf-pile-jumping!

  4. You have no idea. The boys have taken to raking out there every day, making the hugest pile they can, and then jumping in it, tromping through it, and burying themselves in it - and then asking me to take a picture. We even raked up all the leaves (that's a lot) as a family the other night, and came out the next morning to see even more on the ground than we had raked the day before. It's pretty amazing out there. The view from our back porch is all bright oranges and yellows. :) And there's a rich sweet aroma from our ripe grapes. Let me just say again, that I love the fall. :)
